Has anyone used sea mines yet?
Do they show on the water or just under it? Also some vehicles have the option to place mines... Has anyone done this and what where the efeects? |

As far as I know they show on water surface only and German mine-boat can place them ...and they explode.

but not when you shoot them with 7.9mm MG and 20mm cannons .. hmmm i would have thought bullets and cannon shells would penetrate the skin of a sea mine ??? yes ??

Those must be the floating contact mines, I think a good amount of magnetic metal was required to explode it.

My Grandfather was on converted trawler minesweeper during WWII. They used to use a cutter cable to surface the mines then use an enfield to shoot at the detonator spikes to blow them up. It used to take forever he said. Later they got a deckgun and they would penetrate the mine and it would usually sink rather than explode.

Just for fun:
Place (in FMB) a line of 10 ~15 mines, one close to next. Put a ship in course of first mine. Enjoy the "fireworks" - if you 'putter are able to handle. ![]() Sokol1 |
