For all those in the UK, tonight at 9 on BBC2 is The Spitfire- 75th Birthday. Description as follows:
"Passionate flying enthusiast and broadcaster John Sergeant celebrates the 75th anniversary of the Spitfire with a TV love letter to this most British triumph of design and endeavour. The film follows the story of a Spitfire from birth to retirement and tells the stories of ordinary people with extraordinary tales." |

The Spitfire was the best pure dog fighter in WWII.Listening to all the old Spitfire pilots tell about their adventures is truly enjoyable. Thanks to the Brits, putting a Merlin engine in the Pony made it the best escort plane of WWII.I flew the Spit 9 in Aces High a lot.The Spit 16 was just too easy,no challenge there,as they were way over modeled.
