How to create a Steam-independent LAN server???

I've been trying these out the last days but every time I want to create a LAN server it raises an error:

Error: Server cannot connect to Steam

I've created an online server and this is working perfectly so my DVD key is valid and should be activated.

My f****** Steam (sorry but I hate this tool) is running in offline mode.
But still it wants to connect to Steam.

What can I do?
We'd like to play this game next Saturday at our LAN meeting and we don't have access to the internet there.

How do you play CoD at a LAN session without internet connection?

i have steam , i cant find any servers ..i found two at the weekend but none since ..

Really doesn't appear to be much MP support yet.

Yeah, unfortunatly it seems so.
But maybe has another user tried this out?

Has no one the time to create a LAN server without Internet connection just for testing?
Maybe I'm doing something wrong...

I am trying this at the moment. See my grumblings on this thread link below for a list of what i have tried.

We need a steam bypass I think.
