Impossible mode generates a different gameplay so even if you played some games on other modes I think it's still better to play at least once impossible mode without to take care too much of time.
I did the same error than you seem to have done and the result was I restarted too often some large part of the game including a full restart from the beginning. My lack of experience in this mode also made me collect a little series of wrong choices that doesn't help.
