It's also difficult to distinguish between what your gunners are telling you vs. what other pilots are talking about. It can be easy to confuse location of enemy aircraft relative to your formation vs. relative to your plane.
Ideally, intercom communication would somehow be distinguished from radio traffic, if only in text.
e.g.,
[Red Two] Bandits 5 O'Clock [relative to squadron formation]
[Tailgunner] Bandits 4 O'Clock [relative to your airplane]

Yeah, a system more like what Aces Over Europe had back in the 1990s would've been great. There was actually more information called out originally (time to target etc.) as well as the ability for gunners to return fire on ground targets back in the original Il-2 - but somehow it got broken.
I've kindof wished for an ability to get front-gunners to strafe ground targets now that we have the SB-2 and the two-front gunner equipped He-111s (both of which have more firepower forward and appear intended to suppress or attack ground targets on occasion).
