Messerschmitt Bf 109E-1 of 5./ JG52 belonging to Uffz. Leo Zaunbrecher 'Red 14', the Bf 109E-1 of Uffz. Leo Zaunbrecher of 2./JG52 was forced to land in a field near Lewes after being damaged in combat by P/O J. McLintock of 615Sqn. during the early afternoon of 12 August 1940. It carried a high demarcation upper camouflage of RLM 02/71 and the red painted 2.Staffel 'Little Devil' emblem superimposed on a white disc was painted on the port cowling only. The aircraft was also fitted with a rear view mirror mounted on the windscreen framing. Although shown in this profile with a red forward section, it is understood that some eye-witness reports stated that the spinner was red. However, whether these reports referred to the entire spinner or just the tip is not known for certain.
