Yes, defending from national-socialistic Germany meant to sign a treaty (Molotov-Ribbentrop) with this Germany in which both dictators signed the fate of Poland - by splitting up the prey.
Hitler was evil, so was Stalin. Both were agressors. Both armies (all armies) did war crimes. Both dictators (both were socialists) also enslaved their own people.
