In the meantime, I've been playing
Transcendence. It's a real-time space shooter with the same perspective as Space Rangers / EV Nova. It's really quite good once you get over the fact that you can't change ships and it's a linear game - it's very much like a Roguelike game in many respects actually. Give it a go! I am completely addicted
