I'd say that they're probably realizing that the high-end flight-sim market is so incredibly small overall that it's not a market that's hardly worth throwing money at, and that in the case of CLoD that the return wasn't worth the time and money invested into the project. I mean, 8 years or so, and gods know how many millions of $$ into one game? Even with UbiSoft on their back, that's a tad long to develop a product that is aimed at a very narrow band of buyers.

I don't think the abandonment of CLoD implies that 1C feels PC flightsimming is dead. What it does imply is that sooner or later the beancounters and/or investors are going to say stop and then terminate the project when they see that it doesn't look like the investment is going to pay off soon, or in CLoD's case: at all.

After all, it's all business these days. And in business, money talks and bullshit walks. CLoD took a walk, which is sad.
