Unfortunately I can't help if the problem isn't with the Windows 8 fix I made, however if we can figure out the cause of theleif's and DoorGunner's issues that would help too.
@theleif, I send you a Private Message (last week) regarding your issue, if you could please get back to me on that.
Update News: I'll be releasing an update of the fix shortly, it's nothing of great significance but does allow users to start a "Cliffs of Dover" server on their pc's
(I'm sure someone will want sooner or later).
