As far as I know, if pirates around an island are quest-related, the quest giver is on that island. So I'm assuming the pirates from Eastern island are not quest-related. There is one pirate on Western (usually near the fast travel delivery point), significantly weaker than those associated to to Ay Vaz's quest, who's a quest giver, with two outcomes. I haven't noticed what the quest reward is (think it may be a Wanderer scroll, but I'm not sure). Also there was a pirate ship around the fourth Viking island (the one with giant spider) that seemed to be there just for XP.
No quest for the Dead Man's Chest, just a very difficult battle similar to those involved when ugrading an item. XP points should be a reward in itself on this one
