You put up an interesting point, as I am using an old unpatched saved game with a patched version of the game.
The notes didn't say it should affect the particular issues we are running into, but maybe it had unintended consequences.
A shame it might be a while before I can replay from the beginning to test it but at least now I know there is a chance, and that gives me hope!
