depending on the airplane, there is or is not a carb heater. However, there is always a pitot heater. Pitot heater should always be active if there is a chance you will get into the clouds. 109's, iirc, don't have carb heat because they are fuel injected. Most of the German aircraft didn't have carbs. Spits and Hurri's, however, did. So, it depends on which aircraft you were flying.
