Sadly though, this thread was doomed from the start to deteriorate into a slanging match - when people can seriously argue that Margaret Thatcher was bribed into participating in a Marxist plot, there is little chance of a rational debate. Not that they seem to want one anyway, since the entire denialist position is based on a rejection of rationality. They know the 'truth' and aren't interested in actually learning anything. You find idiots like this the world over of course - it's just a pity that they have such a dominant voice in US politics, which takes 'dumbing down' to a whole new level.

Anyway, the science is clear, and the loons are wrong. But don't take my word for it, investigate for yourself - you'll soon find how little credibility anyone but the American right wing has for the denialist position. They told a big lie, but nobody believed it but themselves...
