ugh, this sucks so bad. I tried everything i can think of (cache stuff, nivida settings, turned hyperthreading back on). I was hoping i could play the new patch all day sunday... unfortunately sunday is nearing it's end

Hmm... The first thing I would try is to make a backup of your "1C SoftClub" folder in your Documents folder, and then turn off the steam cloud (right click on IL-2 in your Steam library -> Properties -> Updates -> uncheck Enable Steam Cloud) just for troubleshooting purposes. Then delete your conf.ini (or the whole 1C SoftClub folder if you would prefer to have everything 'fresh' just to try to get the game running, just absolutely make sure you have your backup somewhere safe!) inside your 1C SoftClub folder. Also, when you copied over the patch files did you make sure that everything got properly overwritten?
