It is of course, quite possible that things actually are just what they appear to be: however, someone (aliens ?) is manufacturing all these odd occurrences purely to trick you into thinking reality is an illusion.
Buddhist of course believe reality is an illusion/delusion. Interestingly they also claim that just because its an illusion does not make it any less real
