Lucky man! Nice story too! I bet my best survival story was from ATAG too some time ago. Then the briefing had these radars at Rye as targets, but seemed it was bugged. Anyways, had bombed them in my Me110C-7 and was heading home when a Rotol Hurricane caught up with me. I knew I could not outrun or outturn him so tried to give rear gunner some firing solutions. Lo and behold he managed to squeeze in shots on the Hurricane and when he tried to close in for a kill he flew into water. Splash one!
But the hard part was to get to France as I was far from clear waters with one engine dead and other damage. So shut down damaged engine and trimmed plane for single engine flying just above the waves. I saw some dots above me and no doubt were they the other preying RAF fighters my pursuer must have vectored in. But I had made a risky move and did not head straight to France. I took a bit more southern route and limped back to base. Felt like an achievement!
