When the great storm Katrina was on it's way to New Orleans the people were told to get out now, evacuate! They had several days to do it, and most took that advice.

Yet, you could read and view interviews with people that were not leaving. Many died as a result. Sadly, there were over 300 school buses sitting in a compound that could have been used to evacuate many who did not have adequate transport. The mayor neglected to take that action. Those buses were still in the compound when the storm hit.

One commentator put it very bluntly. The government has taken the role of the mighty protector and defender for so long thousands of people are sitting and waiting for the government to do something about taking care of them while the storm is headed their way.

It's not about country, it's about citizens of any country that have become too dependent upon government for the most basic things.
Common senses have departed many individuals as a result, and evidently intelligence and self-reliance are gone as well.
