True enough. Didn't Einstein figure out relativity by imagining what it would be like to ride on a photon? Of course, though the line between genius and madness may be a thin one, that doesn't mean all mad ideas are evidence for brilliance. And come to think of it, mad people's mad ideas are usually less dangerous than the mad ideas of sane people. Very few of the people responsible for WW1 were obviously nuts, but it was hardly an exercise in rationality. And then we have the current 'economic system'. I remember the days when you could borrow money from a bank if you were considered trustworthy. Nowadays, you have to lend money to banks (via taxes) because they've been shown to be incompetent...
