Have you been running the game with official updates only? It might be an idea to post your system specs, GFX card, RAM etc but a number of people have experienced this problem with the latest update.

I would suggest that you go into the 1Csoftclub folder in 'My Documents' and then into the game folder and delete everything in the cache/shaders folder (or simply put it in the trash can and create two new similarly named empty folders) if you haven't allready done so.

Also, go into your steam account and select the option to 'verify cache'.

If its been running Ok then I doubt its anything to do with in game settings.
