I've experienced the same on/off glitch which is an annoying immersion-killer. Also:
1) if a Spit or Hurri develops engine trouble the stick nearly shakes itself off the table and makes the aircraft impossible to fly to the nearest airfield (unless you hold the stick with thumb and forefinger to disconnect the force feedback effects, and
2) when shooting the guns there is force feedback through the stick which sends unwanted input to the control surfaces, causing the plane to wobble and throwing your aim off target. Cannons are even worse!
I've retired my MSFFB2 from CoD and replaced it (for now) with a TM16000. Although it's an excellent stick (at only $47!) with precise Halls sensors, I miss having good force feedback that other current sims provide -- especially the shudder before a stall.
I wish FF could be tuned in the GUI (hey, some may LIKE the guns or engine trouble causing the stick to shake!) and keep the force feedback effects of the control surfaces turned on constantly.
