Sorry but that is a myth created by people that doesn't understand how it really works, but please explain.

And you are also denying that if you as an example drive a car at 20 m/s and you fire a shot from that car at 90ยบ to the right, after 1 second that shot will have gone the right (relative the direction of the shot) (about) 20 meters.
Please explain why this doesn't happen.
