My solution is simply to move the cursor all the way to the top right corner of the screen every time before I let go of the mouse. It's out of the way and unseen, but I can still grab it at a moment's notice.

Also, I bound one of my mouse buttons to pause TrackIR. Some of the cockpit switches can be kind of tricky to click on, especially when the plane is shaking, and having to keep my head perfectly still wasn't helping the problem. So I look at the switch, grab the mouse, hit pause, click the switch, hit (un)pause, park the cursor in the corner and keep flying. Takes a whole lot longer to type than it does to actually do it.
