That's my take on things too. I would definitely like improved sounds but not at the cost of losing their dynamic nature, it's a great deal of help if you fly with CEM and temp effects enabled. I can tune my engine by ear and look at the target, instead of burying my head in the cockpit gauges in the middle of the dogfight.

That goes doubly so for the Luftwaffe aircraft with their manual pitch props, i wouldn't use a canned/looping sample over dynamic sounds even if they sounded better.
