For those that are saying that the 109 sounds "better" than the Hurricane, I will rebut that they sound
different, as they should.
The DB 601 displaces 2070.5 cubic inches, while the Merlin has a capacity of 1650 cubic inches. The DB also has a lower compression ratio, and is a lower revving engine as well, so it will sound very different than it's Rolls Royce rival, or the Allison V-1710 for that matter.
