It seems that none of the screenshots so far have been taken with either anti-aliasing or anisotropic filtering enabled. Anisotropic filtering IS very memory intensive, and large terrain textures take up a lot of space. Look at the size of
these expansion textures for Orbiter by comparison with the original package, and bear in mind that these have to be loaded into memory.
For a modern game, though, this should not be an issue. I'm a bit baffled as to why none of the screenshots yet have been taken with either AA or AF and I'd say that they are two biggest issues that are really letting the quality of these previews down so far. Well, there's also the colour palette, which still looks very little like rural Britain.
