Well, maybe I didn't understood you. If you were talking about AI flying at
full power
for a long periods of time than I agree with you, for their cruising speeds that's up to mission maker to worry about.

AI cheats but it is not worse than humans and you can bet that we will have some epic whining if same rules are applied for AI and humans.

Cheats are necessary evil in simulations, there is no sims that don't cheat in one way or another, only thing developers can do is to make cheats more or less obvious. Of course they can say that they don't cheat but that is for commercial purpose only, trust me.
