Good one Danny. From what I've read on the Me-309, some versions even had a pressurized cockpit for high altitude intercepts, very unusual for a single engined fighter. Problem was that all that extra stuff made it too heavy and performance suffered. Here's a diagram showing how the nose gear would lay flat up under that big engine:
