You are incorrect. The USSR is not part of Europe, it is considered part of Asia. I am a geography buff, and a former Navigation Officer in the US Navy. Every navigation chart that I pull up has USSR printed in bold, and in small print it states Asia.
East of the Ural Mountains and from Ukraine to Finland is considered part of Asia. The reason the USSR is not part the EU is simply because it is
not in Europe.
