Personally, I cannot count the hundreds, maybe thousands, of hours that I've spent flying, reading, developing, moderating, admining, etc. in this game.
It's a fact that it means a lot to all of us, for these last 8-9 years of our life.
At some point, due to wrong handling from the developers, in my opinion, of the facts, people (and not only one or two, but a very big percentage) thought that they'd take a new, better "drug" soon.
Those addicted junkies (me included) made plans, bought new computers, did many things in conjuction to the new "drug", but the dealer delayed the delivery.
And kept on delaying.
Junkies could not control their selfes easily.
Others did other things, others quit the game, others were too strong and kept waiting, while others got emotionaly blocked and they turned their dissapointment in negativity.
In all these statuses we can recognize many people of the community.

But what's a fact, imho, is that we should all be tollerant and those who are strong enough to support those who have emotionaly crashed.
Let's not punish them from their addiction.
Let's support them.

PS. This doesn't mean that we can accept criminal minds. But hey, Tree (whom I don't know much, to be subjective - I have not even flown with him), doesn't seem like a criminal mind. A poor junkie, like many of us, is.

PPS. Going back to my work and my kids, the best anti-IL2 drug in the universe
+1

In some way Tree's posts were funny, you should not take it too seriously... you need something to linger on (HFC_Dolphin are right, we are all junkies, it's not our fault...). It's because we have loved and still love so much this game.

After all without funnys thread the board would be totally boring, with many people asking only for the Shift+F1 key and how landing gears work on Ratas. Or many more spamming to advertise their squadron (worser than Tree's threads IMO)... In this way you don't create a community.

IMO

Anyway the moderators are the right to do what they want.

A whole generation of pilots learned to treasure the Spitfire for its delightful response to aerobatic manoeuvres and its handiness as a dogfighter. Iit is odd that they had continued to esteem these qualities over those of other fighters in spite of the fact that they were of only secondary importance tactically. Thus it is doubly ironic that the Spitfire’s reputation would habitually be established by reference to archaic, non-tactical criteria.
