I think it has merit. Sort of like an 'intelligent auto-head-tracking' mode.
The thing is, following a target with your eyes and moving your head in the direction you're turning is all natural and requires no thought. You wouldn't use a tiny HAT switch in real life to move your head or view in a cockpit
I would like to have something like that as an option. I think old-school simmers will say different though...
