Oil Leaks?

If you shoot an enemy so he is leaking oil, will he eventually run out and crash? has anyone seen this happen?

just be interested to know :)

Yes. I don't recall the crew bailing out though. I think they just try to get away from the fight, but failed.

ok thanks :)

I've noticed too when you have the hud on that sometimes you will hit a target and then they are no longer selectable as a target but they have no noticeable damage and continue to fly straight. Any idea what's going on here?

i think thats when you shoot the pilot. because nobody ejects either, maybe because the switches are where the pilot is. this would explain why they continue on straight but slowly down.

If that is the case, it is INSANELY detailed and cool. :cool:

hell yeah! this game is sooo good, im defo pre-ordering, and it has won my heart over DiRT2 purely because it has so much detail such as oil leaks, bullet holes, motion blur e.t.c.

There are a lot's of reason when target become uncelectable. The most common are: you have damaged something important to enemy mission.
For bombers there are for example
* bomb doors
* bombs
* pilots
* handling or navigation equipment
etc,
or just bomber release it's bombs and cannot be target more.
When bomber cannot perform mission or\and report 'return to base' it becomes 'grey' target, that means that you ave completed your mission with this target, but this is not a confirmed kill.
When you kill pilots all indicators removed from target. That means that you not only do your job, but will get comfirmed kill (as this aircraft will fall down sometime for sure). Fighters usually haven't 'grey' state, and when you kill a pilot they usually stall in a few seconds.

PS Yes, it is INSANELY detailed and cool :)

not necessarily, in fact.
It depends on engine and so on. Engines can burst into flame, or just stop, or explode (not sure about last one).
But for sure when oil run out (that usually takes minutes, sometimes up to half an hour, not seconds, you know) engine will stop.

So also comes to water tanks damages and to fuel tank damags (in fact leakage of fuel doesn't mean fire and explosions in reality an in our game too. moreover, the less fuel in tanks the more probablity of explosions on hit.

PS I think it is easier to check this by yourself in training mode when you buy a full game.
