Spitfire Crash - Very short on info

It seems every new source is carrying identical uninformative reports on the spit that crash landed today. I am guessing the damage is minimal but it would be nice to know for certain.

Seems like it was the Rolls Royce owned one, lucky its in good hands :D

The rolls royce one, it's only recently been in for an overhaul.

Sounds like the press are far more concerned about inconvenience to travelers rather than any worry about damage to a historical aircraft :D

Dozens of passengers faced delays today after a Spitfire crashed on a runway of one of Britain's biggest airports.
Six arrivals, including flights from Scotland and Tenerife, were diverted to Birmingham airport.
"The runway is shut and flights are suspended because of where the plane has come to rest," he said.
"All inbound flights have been diverted and outbound flights have been suspended, but we are expecting to be operational within two hours."

It was too early to say whether the accident had any bearing on the airworthiness of the other vintage aircraft.



Bit of a worry these doddery old codgers in their vintage aircraft puttering around our airports.
