Feeling rather better after official support ended. You too?

Ive noticed an unexpected side effect after official support for clod came to an end. Previously when the was still hope for change, and an expectation that the title would see further development, I was frustrated by the lack of substance, circular development cycle and the decided lack of meaningful results from the team.

Now that the game clearly is what it is, and there is no point in petitioning, pleading or arguing, I find myself softening towards the thing a bit. It will be years before the Sequel arrives, so there is nothing left to do but make the most of it. I found that reducing my screen res fixed the stutters that were introduced for me in the last two patches. Tomorrow I'm thinking about putting down a few hundred dollars on a new card. One that will keep clod running until 2015. Anyone else seeing an attitude adjustment recently?

FYI the 5970 gives fantastic results for me and they are cheap, might be worth a check :)

The 6870 is similarly fantastic, however it seems to love anti-aliasing (even when the option is turned off in game, and CCC is set to application controlled). They do shunt load on to the CPU though!

Ah, I was thinking of a 660ti 2gb. Bit of a NV sort of chap. ;)

BLASHPEMY!

Just kidding, that's a great choice. I would probably go with NVidia if I had a little more dosh (to put it in Alan Wilson's terminology), the 3D support and physx is fantastic.

Personally I just go for what is best at the time so if I was to get a card today I would be leaning towards NV as well, but I have this card a while now and its still running the "top" games very well.

Actually looking to purchase another one and get double the crossfire ability :D

I would not recommend a dual GPU card. Even if xfire works now it does not mean it will work in all upcoming patches (happens with other sims too). Moreover only 1GB of effective vram (1x2=2GB) makes the card very unbalanced. IMHO.

altitude adjustments are good.

Salute

No, not feeling better.

It's two years till BoM, they should continue to support CLIFFS OF DOVER till it is better refined.

They did make an effort in the last series of Release Candidates, but they finished their effort too soon.
