If XP would obey my page file size then maybe ....

Hello everyone,
My system is a mix of old and new so all I am not looking for great performance just to finish one mission.
I can only run COD for a few minutes. Game starts off fine but in a few minutes or less page file grows to over 2 GB and then everything starts to freeze over.
I have read that XP will sometimes ignore your page file settings and in my case this is true.
I tried setting to zero and various other small sizes restart and though my settings are kept XP still builds a page file. Not just in game but all apps.
My OS is updated.
My questions are:
1. Is it possible to run this game in XP 32 bit with my system?
2. How to force XP to obey page file setting?

I have the following updates in store for this PC: Win7 64 bit , SATA 6.0 h/d and Creative XiFi Titanium sound card but I wanted to experiment with current setup first.
Thank You
JohnnyWalker

Hello JohnnyWalker.,
My humble opinion.,,get onto Win7 64bit.,you'll see a nice improvement in performance.,and it will take advantage of your 16g of mem.,currenty xp32 will only see under 4gig.,the remainder of your memory not being used. I noticed a nice improvement when i switched over to win7-64bit couple years back. Hope that helps.,

Took you advice and installed W7 64

Thank you for the great advice. I installed W7 64 bit on a Raptor h/d.
Only played about 70 minutes but game seems fine so far. W7 was the fix..
The only updates are what ever steam installed.
I am very happy at the moment:).
Game appears to run about as smooth (at least too me that is ) as IL2 did on a my older P4 machine 6000 Geforce .Which is very playable.
Time will tell
Thanks again .

Glad to see you got an improvement.,I'm sure it will only get better with future COD optimizations and bug fixes. Enjoy your new OS.
