We have compressed 10–15 kilometers of real atmosphere into 2–3 kilometers of in-game altitude to achieve best gameplay. Each plane will have its own optimal performance altitude range, which will be defined depending on its historical characteristics

World of Warplanes maps will definitely be much bigger, with the average size of about 250 square kilometers.
That works out at 16km x 16 km .

Which means that traveling at 320 kmh (200 mph) you will fly right across the map and off into the void in precisely 3 minutes :D

Or, more importantly if you are in the absolute center of the map you cannot travel for two minutes in any direction without falling off the edge of the world.

Maybe they have a toroidal universe that wraps round on itself - travel for 4 minutes in any direction and you are back where you started?

I suspect they may mean 250 kilometres square. At least, I hope so...

Maybe speed will be compressed 5-10 times similar to altitude performance

16km x 16km is ridiculous small. However 250km x 250km would be ridiculous big for a atmosphere that is compressed to 3km.

Seems like they are progressing quite smartly. Also, I think I do like the look of the "micro" terrain. Look like players will by flying down that gorge a lot to "surprise" players waiting for them on the other side...
