Launcher issues help please!

I've had no launcher issues since I've had this game, either on my old build or the one listed in my sig, but now I can't launch the game at all.
Recently updated nvidea drivers but I'm sure thats not it because I've played it since then, installed Crysis for a little benchmarking but now its uninstalled as is punkbuster.
I've reinstalled Steam, Reinstalled CoD and still the same issue.
I've also tried deleting most things from the 1c softclub folder, all to no avail.
Heres the error report:

Launcher crashes or stops working.

Ataros 08-20-2011 07:53 AM

Start with checking game files integrity in Steam.

Then reinstall all applications from "redist" folder.

If it does not help remove video drivers with Driversweeper completely and install stable version.

Try running in window mode and low res first via editing the conf.ini file.

If it does not work, check hardware.

Maybe a link #6 in my sig can give some more ideas on what to try.

hid.dll is related to USB as Google tells. Try disconnecting all USB devices, updating drivers.

Thanks for that Ateros, I'll try that when I get the chance and let you know how I get on. Gamekeeper, the game won't launch at all, it freezes just before the Ubisoft animation.

I have the same issues.

Cleaning the video drivers and reinstalling them enables the game to start once. And once only.

skouras 08-20-2011 01:46 PM

also the game requires
Microsoft Visual C++ redistribuable (x86)
Microsoft Visual C++ redistribuable (x64)
to run
make sure you have them
if you unistall them
the game will not reinstall them for you

Thanks Skouras, I checked for those and they are all present. I have a feeling it may be some kind of driver conflict. I've just bought a v5 cyborg keyboard, could be to do with that......

just try to thing what it was your last thing to do before this problems occurs

Bokononist,

HID stands for "Human Interface Device", in other words, Joysticks, Keyboards etc...
Because of this, I would say that the new keyboard does have something to do with it.
If you installed drivers for the keyboard, try uninstalling them.

Great advice Ateros and Conio, it actually turned out to be my Black Widow HOTAS drivers! I have just made a new build and I think I was so keen to try CoD on it that I just plugged it in and let Windows DL the driver. It seemed to work so I didn't bother to install the official one. Anyway, I went to the Speedlink site, installed the official driver and everything is now back to normal.

Thankyou very much to Ateros, Conio, and everyone who took the time to help. :grin:
