Gray Box

Why do I all of a sudden have a gray box in the upper left of my screen that I cannot get rid of? If I open the map that is where it comes up at and when I turn off map it goes away but the gray box stays.

Press control and right click on it to highlight it then select CLOSE with a right click..

Its a text box since the update reset some of your properties.. its one of the most misunderstood features in the game actually :)

Thanks, Got one more question. What is the icon with a T on it that slides up and down. It is to the left of the center of the screen just below the middle of the screen. Also about every 10 mission or so my pc will lock up and drop to desktop and I cannot even cont alt del. I have to reboot. Is this a normal bug that everyone is having?

Hi Camel, i have the same prob, it's nothing to do with info window, it's a background left over when you close the map and it's like the map goe's but leaves its print behind, very distracting, JG's answer did'nt work for me, how about you?. Any sugestions you techies out in the wild blue yonder?
By the way. this only occured with latest fix??. Thanks in anticipation.

I've had something similar, and I think he's right, it's some kind of corrupted info window. I understand why you think he's wrong, but selecting this fantom window and closing it in the stated way fixed it for me.

You have to right click on the greyed out info window-open a new info window then right click on that new info window and close it then you can right click on the greyed out info window and close it.

Hi Seeker, It seems maybe i have a different problem then, the info screen is oblong, this blank portion left on my screen is in a vertical format exactly size and shape of the map as you can see by attachments. This sim has great potential, and this is the only prob since major upgrade., you really get the feeling of being involved. Having spent most of my life from the 1930's in Dover untill moving up north in 1998 [yes i am an old bugger] i had first hand experiance with the conflict. Still can't see my house though.

What he said but with a minor correction: actually it's alt-click to highlight it (at least on default settings, i don't know if this function can even be remapped though), then right click for the pop-up menu and left click on close.
Try this again and see if it does the trick. ;)
