thank god they delayed this game

2 whole months!

In this short timeframe from the original release look how much has been done to improve the game!

This is a godsend because if they would have launched it next week it would have killed the games chances in north america of forming a steady community.

It sucks that i dont get to play it now , but if there is two months to patch of the game it should be running pretty good when it comes out , and will feel more like a complete game.

Keep up the good work guys !

They have had 1 official patch in April and 1 official patch in May.At that rate, 1 official patch in July.

If they want to get the physical disks stamped, boxed and out to the retailers by July 19th I suspect they need to go gold by July 10th.Maybe enough time to squeeze one more official patch out by July 10th.

You can play it now. Just go to Just Flight and do a digital download.

What I would like to have at release in the USA is a disk that I can pop in, install and play without any Steam involvement. Not first downloading 5gb of updates to get the game up to speed. I already found a solution around steam for the Russian version I bought and there is no way I'm going to ploink down $50 bucks only to be anoyed by Steam in the games current condition. If it gets to the point where the game is 100% fixed, I will get it but not before that.

There will, at some point, be different modded versions. Messing with Steam will be a pain in the rear end. I probably installed IL2-1946 5 or 6 times in a row before I had it modded the way I wanted it. Don't see myself doing that with steam, having to download patches at a snails pace.

If I can't have my cake and eat it too I'll just stick with the Russian version that plays without steam. This is really a double whammy. Unfinnished game=lots of patches=lots of waiting for steam to update game. If they published patches outside of steam via torrents or their own website it would be a lot more doable.

i never download games from sites other than steam , if im going to buy a digital copy of a game they all have to be in one place and thats steam. It makes it easier to manage.

also i dont want to play the game in its current state

unfortunately gone are the days where pc games can come without some form of security. currently steam is the best solution.

Steam is a fantastic program and i used it with 1946 and a bunch of other games and have no issues modding with it. You can also turn off automatic updates.

Its just smarter to have all your games in one place , you dont have to manage discs which degrade over time and CD keys which you can lose since gone are the days of actual jeweled cases.

i will never understand the hate steam gets in this place

Have to admit i dont mind it at all, done alot of formatting and reformatting lately and Steam is so easy.. i think its to do with the 'big brother' mentality which is fine i understand that although i would be very weary of what else you have/watch/download if that was the case
