No self shading

Recently downloaded Cliffs of Dover and got running, but there doesn't seem to be any self shading on any of the planes or in the cockpits.
I've turned shadows on along with model detail on high but still no self shading.
Anyone know how to get it working?
I'm running DX9 and Windows XP btw if thats any help

Could be that DX 9 is the prob as the game is currently running on 10.
