Any differences between Ubi download and steam version?

Except of course that the UBI download is $89AUD and the Steam version is $49US! And the UBI version is listed as being released on the 31/3 and Steam as the 1/4

Will there be any difference in the way they install or activate?

Cheers!

I'd also like to know from some official source are all the releases actual steam releases or not.
Now we just have a bunch of wild speculations that some are not, ie the boxed version.

We know that steam is required for online play but if all the other releases cept the steam one are not fully integrated into steam feels kinda silly buying other version than the steam one.

And if there are differences, what are they?

The releases will be identical as they all will be activated and patched through Steam, not speculation, FACT.

Regarding installation, obviously the Steam version will all need to be downloaded through Steam so time will depend on your internet speed.

Even with the disc, it will be likely some content will install and additional content will still need to be downloaded as they may well have patched since the game went gold.

I'm hoping it is so, but I'd still like some kind of an official notice on it. Either from 1C or Ubi or steam or.... anyone with first hand knowlege.
Better safe than sorry and all that...

I guess Ubi will handle it like they do over at Direct2Drive when it comes to titles that make use of Steamworks. If you buy such a game at D2D, you'll get a serial key delivered to your e-mail address which you can register to your Steam account and download the game via Steam. But you also have the choice to download the game files through D2D's servers (which is pretty unecessary, since you have to use Steam anyways).

This is pure speculation, though. But to me it seems most likely.

Quote from official statement:

"Finally, if you buy the physical version of the game, there will be no need to download anything additional in order to play the game. An internet connection will be required to activate the game, and for online play, but that is it.
The game only uses SteamWorks for match-making and not the Steam DRM."

You can find the info over at ubi forums here:

iirc Ubisoft only gives you so long to download, so if your hard drive fails and you are past the expiration date of your download, your screwed. Ubi says you can pay extra to extend the time you have to download another copy. With Steam the game can be downloaded indefinitely.
