2014 - il-2 4.09m online - anyone interested ?

Hi all,
July 2014 :
We have tried the mods but feel 4.09M still offers the best and most reliable internet game play. If anyone is interested in 4.09M online feel free to respond.

PS we are in USA... Central timezone and ply at times in the evening.

Spud....

What problems are you having with the bold text in the quote above in v4.10 up to v4.12.2 ?

I remember some guys quit flying IL2 after Forgotten Battles came out, they got used to the way the aircraft were in the original IL2 and did not want to adapt to new flight models.

There has been a lot of patches over the last thirteen years, often if somebodies favorite aircraft loses an edge it had in the name of accuracy or history they are disappointed if they are not interested in accuracy or history, or their personal view of WWII history does not agree with the research, manuals and tests the IL2 developers have used to.

All official patches of IL2 have been very reliable for on and offline playing. The only time my computer ever crashed in the last few years was when I tried someone's MOD or HACK.

Other than what Jumoschwanz mentions, I can't imagine why anyone would want to play a legacy version of the game, especially as far back as 4.09. Even the most stubborn mods have long since moved on. To each their own, I suppose.

Good luck finding players.

Gotta have to agree with you. I can understand not wanting to introduce some of the MOD changes but 4.12.2 is everything 4.09 is and more. New content, better AI, etc. Lots of us are flying 4.12.2 but I don't think I even have a 4.09 kicking around anymore... I did keep one for a bit but I quickly ditched it.

Come join us on Battlefields1 for a slightly casual, slightly serious, objective oriented dogfight server if you'd like some stock 4.12.2 online activity.

On my experience, FMs after 4.09 condemned some popular planes.

Specially the 190. After 4.09 it is the worst 190 of all versions after forgotten battles.

No rolling fast enough, no acceleration, and both wings falls. Also, recovering it from spin is harder than before.

I just don-t pick it anymore.

Seriously? I didn't expect that.

After the changes to the FW190 I now consider it the best the FW190 has ever been - I honestly legitimately mean that. The turn rate improved, the acceleration increased, top speeds have sometimes been reduced and sometimes been improved and climb rates I think by and large were improved. It's much nicer to handle - the only issue for some that I was aware of was the G loading which does enter more into the equation for a high speed boom and zoom fighter than it does for someone turn fighting at fairly low speeds.

Haven't spun a FW190 in a while. Can't comment on that part. I should try that...

On top of all of the FW190 changes that I was looking for - there's also a couple more options kicking around like the FW190A-4 in two versions which has been a HUGE help for online scenarios and having performance that matches the opposition and year I'm trying to build.

lolrly? Dude, you seriously don't know what you're missing now. I mean, really.

If anything, the flight modeling of the FW-109s feel as though they lack their drag coefficients. They are ridiculously fast, and they never slow down, even when you drop everything. Yeah, I'm exaggerating a bit, but still, the point. Oh, and they have some of the best ailerons of any aircraft in the game now.

Truly, fly smart, and you're all but invincible in the thing, especially the A4 when it first comes on the scene per theater.

Yeah, we all remember when the FWs were "porked" way back when, but that was a long time ago - years ago, in fact, and things are different now.

It's the plane I flied most from the beginning of the sim.
Now the main maneuver that I mastered on it, that allowed me to vanquish one on one a spit IX or a La-7 at low altitude, is imposible to do it anymore since 4.10. It will allways enter into a spin. On 4.09 it works like a charm.

If by flying smart, you mean flying it as if it was a 109, then it is no more a 190. And I hate flying that way, since it is of no practice use for a JaBo. You have to go low and survive.
