pilot animations dont match the planes

I been curious as to why that is? The little animations on the bottom right .its always a bf109 shooting, or a spitfire lol . They could have done fine without them in my opinion.

It depends on what you shot at; if you shoot at a stuka and get damage or close (which is misleading) you see a picture of the plane in the lower right corner for a short time showing what the plane is doing. I always get a picture with the correct plane in it; the problem is the close factor. You see the picture and think you have damaged the plane, and actually you just shot close to it and missed altogether.

No he means the little animation you get in campaign mode when you hear some radio chatter. There is a spitfire one, a 109 one and there might be one with a Russian plane as well not sure. And I agree with the OP, they are pretty useless additions as they don't help or accomplish anything. The time spent making them could have been used to make cockpits instead. :-x

The looking around one lets you know that you've lost sight of the target if in arcade or realistic modes.

The shooting aircraft is supposed to let you know that someone is shooting at you, though if you have gunners, they'll be firing back before the warning comes up, so yes, it is pointless.
