Kanatos's Head

Where can I find Kanatos's Head?

Thx

AFAIR it was in barbarian camp on freedom islands (eastern islands) on that island connected to a gryphon's king quest. But i haven't played for long so i can be wrong

Metathron 08-15-2009 11:20 AM

Yes, that's where it is, the same island as Duke Sov is on, in the Eastern Islands. You'll have to dodge a pretty large barbarian stack to reach the statue.

Vilk 08-15-2009 01:11 PM

Dodge? I suppose you mean fight.

Metathron 08-15-2009 04:03 PM

No, I mean dodge it, because the first time you come to the (eastern) islands, you aren't nearly strong enough to fight the majority of stacks there. Getting the +3 defense, +2 attacks shield in exchange for the head early on is definitely a boon.

inerz 08-24-2009 04:02 AM

the item description was something like
'item for sale'

the price was good so i thought it had no further value.
where do you exchange it for the shield?

Elwin 08-24-2009 06:35 AM

I think it was barbarian chief in southern verlon forest, which u have to kill n 1 of quests

inerz 08-24-2009 11:28 AM

are you sure?
the game rewards players for killing the chief in verlon forest earlier on.

so i should keep him alive and he will trade the head for the shield?

Elwin 08-24-2009 11:36 AM

not sure but u can try always, and kill him after

Metathron 08-24-2009 04:24 PM

Yes, keep him alive. Actually, don't even take the second quest before trading the head, IIRC if you do you can either do the quest or trade.

Zhuangzi 09-16-2009 07:33 AM

Well, I've played this game 5 times and I didn't realise you could get something for the head. I always sold it. Fetches a good price, if I remember correctly.

BB Shockwave 09-24-2009 04:26 PM

Dang. I killed him already... :( It was not mentioned in any walkthrough that you can trade the shield with him, and if you leave him alive, you fail the Marquis' quest.

Is there any mod or way to un-kill him? My mage could use such a shield...

You fail the quest if you get the shield?

I almost regretted selling the Head when I read this thread, but if you fail a quest then you lower your record score, and no item is worth this; except of course if you don't really care about the score.

It can be done:

1. Do NOT pick up the peace pact II q.
2. Do the Head quest.
2. Do the peace pact II. Q (Kill the barbarian)

Ah, I see, thanks for the tip.

A +3 defense/+2 attack shield is definitely nice, alas, I am already at Ellinia, level 20. I could go back and reload a save game, but that would be from level 5. :(

I only have one decent shield, +1 defense/+300 leadership. Hopefully something better than this turns up.

On a side note, is there any use for these items:

1) 84 carat diamond from Islands of Freedom
2) Ancient Coins from dwarven lands

Can these be traded for some good item just like the Head?

Elwin 10-05-2009 05:56 PM

just sell them while having trade 3 skill

Vomaxx 03-20-2010 02:22 AM

You can also sell the head for 20,000 gold (to the fellow who told you about it). That's worth considering at levels where cash is scarce, IMHO.
