Good review

The only thing is that there is a cord that links the throttle and the stick together and it seems like it might be a problem for some people.

I can't decide whether to buy this one or the aviator. For some reason I like how the aviator looks but since the thrustmaster is recommended by Anton himself I will most probably go with the thrustmaster. I'm worried that being left handed though will give me a few probs but sometimes you just gotta bite the bullet. Thanks for the link trk29

I've got exactly the same problem. I am left handed also and I would not like to struggle to much to get used to the thrustmaster. I feel like this will bring some of my shooting accuracy down.

I really don't know what to do with those flightsticks (not enough choice).... any opinion?

Just look at it this way, in all planes the throttle is on the left, so with the HOTAS your more of a REAL pilot hehe.

I'm a lefty, and I've always used a right-handed joystick. Just takes an hour or so of getting adjusted. Heck, then you can say you're ambi-dexterous! Chicks dig that. >.> And Messerschmitts. Chicks dig Messershmitts.

Good find trk29, thanks for the heads up on the hotas. Think I will take advantage of that deal.

Hahaha, yes!!! One thing I would like to know is if you can control the rudder by twisting the stick as well as by using the small paddles on the back of the throttle? That's also a good point SleepTrgt, getting used to the thrustmaster will have its own excitement as well!

Hello there. You have probably already found it but on the official il-2 BOP game website go to links under the Community heading and it will show you the available joysticks. There is also a thrustmaster t-flight stick x, a cheaper option (amazon uk= £17.99) that comes without the detachable throttle thing. However after checking up reviews on amazon (despite these not possibly being the most valid reviews out there) it still appears to be less suitable for left handers. I believe the main reason for this is due to the shape of the stick as it would not fit as comfortably inside your left palm but as I have never tried it I'm not a 100% sure. Despite these setbacks however I am personally still thinking of going with the hotas rather than the ambidextrous saitek aviator. More experienced advice is appreciated as I am only a newbie in these matters and don't want to mislead anyone. Hope this helps:grin:

Thank you for your answer "TheBurningBlue"

Anyway, I'm still hesitating....
Do both of those flightsticks have a deadzone when some of you guys play the BoP Demo on the 360?

I guess this bit of an issue will also be there on the ps3....

Just picked this stick up, i'll be on the ps3, and i'm curious to how ppl are setting this up. Seems like it would be alot more comfortable fastened onto the arms of a chair, say, than a desk or somthing in front of you. You can sit back and play comfortably, instead of up in your seat, like your playing a computer game or somthing.

The problem is that the stick and throttle are attached together by wires that dont seem to disconnect. So i would think mabye somthing to snap them on to after you sit down, like some interlocking peices or somthing ?? Any suggestions ??

Before I got the T.Flightstick Hotas X, I meant the same as you, but the wire is too short to lay the wire under the chair. I will be building a board with the screwed two parts of the flightstick on it, which goes over the arms of the chair and will be attached to them with clamps fixed at the board. The board will be connected to the chair after entering the chair, and disconnected before leaving the chair. I hope you understand, what I mean.

Yes, i do. And thank you, those are the kind of ideas i was lookin for.
Good sh!t man !!

I just found some information out about the throttle control that I wanted to know. There is no spring back action on the throttle when you press if forward it will stay there. As well as in throttle back.

If you like simulations I guess you'll hate HAWX. But at least the graphics are ok.

Danny M NL 08-12-2009 05:41 PM

yeah, I've been labeled a graphics wh*re by all my friends, and I have a pretty badass PC, so it should keep me entertained for a while, even if it has sucky gameplay... I'll just have to keep flying in straight lines while admiring the landscape

Anyone know how long the USB cord is, because my bed is 6 feet from my tv/Ps3.

It's about 2m50cm! I calculated it as a bit more than 8.2 feet.

cydno,
Thanks

Shame it has no force feed back, but then it would be twice the price I guess.

Is anyone aware of force feed back stick available for PS3?
