leaked il2 BoS footage

Leaked il2 footage. Looks pretty decent. Although just a brief clip. |
hmm I wonder how much we have to pay for that paintjob (after we'd paid for the game).

I use computers for two purposes only: internet and flightsims. I have today a laptop i4 that takes more than care of my internet requirements' and have recently purchased a Samsung SA950 monitor, Logitech G940 sys,a CH Throttle Quadrant and a Tir 5, all about 1100 EUR. All that I need now is a computer to run the sim and I don't estimate to be able to get one cheaper than 1100 EUR. So the price for the software is equivalent to the price of a Pizza and the hardware cost is about the cost of a second hand car. And let me emphasize that: 2000 plus EUR for_the_sole_purpose_of running_CloD!! Viking |
I know it's still pre-alpha, but that looks rather good.

I really enjoy the very last few seconds. The new Bump mapping adds a real depth to the ground, like little snow drifts down there, that Im glad I dont have to tread through!

Looks great. Hope it's just as smooth with 50+ planes in the sky plus AI. I'ld be as happy as a pig in muck!
I wonder if it was captured footage using some thing like FRAPS or recorded in high def like those early COD videos that caused so much controversy? Pre-Alpha, work in progress! Really hope it pans out! |

Rendered AVI recaptured with Fraps. ;) |
both the cockpit and external view of the RoF BS aircraft is pretty low resolution and lacking much of the detail already seen in CoD currently, pretty much confirming the earlier indications that many of the good elements we already have in CoD will not be present in RoF's ww2 BS sim. also looks like they are using painted textures to give an illusion of detail, rather then actually model the detail in 3 dimensions like we have in CoD, you cant even read the dials in RoF's BS for ex
no landscape detail either. having large flat white open fields in a winter scenery without needing to give much scenery detail is an easy way to reduce pc cpu/gpu resource load for a demo video, but it doesnt bode well for what has always been one of the biggest valid complaints against RoF: a lifeless boring world devoid of detail or life. and even with all those glaring omissions, if you look at the scenery being modeled there is a clear visibility bubble that barely extends 2 or 3 km beyond the plane, with medium distance objects being much fuzzier and blured, and the further horizon being blurred even more. and beyond the immediate 2 - 3 km around you in that video you can also see how bad these medium/far distance objects are shimmering as their demo pc is struggling to display the more distant objects (trees, hedges ?), very obvious in the first 1/3 of the video ! RoF BS demo video looks more like a console game then a high end pc simulator like CoD :) first, the current beauty of CoD https://imageshack.us/a/img145/4100/...shot133152.png compared to the blurry low rez mess of RoF BS http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...er-2/RoFBS.png |
Hahaha, you forgot to post the one and only screenshot from CloD
http://wiki.sturmovik.de/images/8/85...enablage01.jpg |
Now lets try that without using a purposely crap screen grab from a low res compressed video source...

How boring would that be, flying over endless, featureless terrain.........
|
lol, Dano, you'r using a wip shot from a 3dsmax model to try and justify what the RoF BS could look like ? sorry dude, your being a bit dishonest in doing so and it clearly aint like that in their BS game :)
lets stick to real ingame objects for our direct comparison eh here, i have now taken the RoF BS screenshot directly from their recent HD 720p source video, extracted the screenshot with a frame accurate video editor and used a lossless image format for the extracted frame. cant be more fair then that take 2: the glory of CoD in its current beauty: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...CoDcockpit.png and the low quality mess from RoF BS (HD 720p source video, extracted the screenshot with a frame accurate video editor and used a lossless image format for the extracted frame) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...ss1280x720.png pretty obvious quality difference :) |
Dano,
btw i am not surprised you'r not using CoD, your pc just aint up to scratch with your relatively low end gfx card (for CoD) you cant actually run it well enough to see it in all its glory (as in the posted screenshot i provided) Quote:
and now their queuing up to buy RoF's latest BS for another 500$, and because they still have a low spec'ed pc that cant run high end 2013-2014 games they will again end up with a much inferior game by definition . to each his own i guess, but i find that rather strange logic :) |
Yup clod looks good. And will look good for all time in the battle Britain everyday for the rest time. The game is dead. Not getting picked back up by anyone. Team fusion isn't getting the source code. And in fact I predict that team fusion sees the light and actually switches to BoS later this year when it hits beta.
And as far as the lifeless terrain.... Is the dead of winter what do u expect to see? A rain forest? This is exactly what you would have seen in BoM. Your fanboy ness is strong. I mean are you actually going to continue to play clod when everyone goes to BoS? I don't understand how a person can be so stuck on one product even after it has been cancelled and left for dead. As far as your argument on renderings. That render is IN in the digital nature engine. Just not in the environment of Stalingrad. So your argument is moot. And the lagg video is not a publicly released video, it's a leak of pre alha barely been flying prototype. Wll that change how it looks in game at release? I have no idea. But you cannot accurate judge these two shots. Why so much hate for 1C GS /777 for keeping this alive? |
Not......going.......to......bite...............
|
Lets not rehash all the same old arguments please.
Have they shown any WiP shots of infantry yet? That was Stalingrad really. |
Edit... on second thoughts...
Bullshit. You can argue all you like, but you're grabbing a shot from an unknown build (that is not anywhere near final) from a 720p (low res) compressed source and trying to compare, it doesn't matter one jot how you grabbed it, it matters how it was shot initially, pull the other one, it's got bells on. And you call me dishonest? Keywords: pot, kettle and black. My rig, is absolutely capable of running CloD with all settings at maximum thanks. |

so no, team fusion aint going nowhere, did you think the name of the new RoF game would confuse them ? when IL-2 Sturmovik Birds of prey was released it attracted a whole new crowd, basically a cluster halfway between console users and new people interested in an easy pc flightsim. the same happened with war thunder and similar projects. RoF's BS project will similarly attract its own crowd, mostly made up of old RoF fans who arnt quite interested in the higher tech sims like DCS or CoD, combined with other pc users that want an uncomplicated game without a steep learning curve. over the next few years as CoD continues to expand and evolve the only likely transition i see for its current fanbase if there truly is to be an EOL, it is to the DCS ww2 theater that by then will have become a reality. the bulk of the old IL-2 Sturmovik-CoD fan base will want to move on to something better, not take several steps backwards just for the sake of somebody using part of the old brand name. OK then.Take your back and forth arguments elsewhere.
