IL2 1946 and second monitor?
I have been setting up a dedicated system for flight sim games. Part of the setup is a second touchscreen monitor. I have Falcon BMS and Helios working well with the setup and was wondering if there is any chance to get IL2 1946 to use the second monitor for gauges (and maybe button input). I have done some searching but have not seen a clear answer.
Does anyone have a setup they use with IL2 1946 using a separate monitor for gauges and maybe button input? Thanks for any help |
You could do that using devicelink (check the readme's and web surf a bit) but that's very limited online. Offline, you can do much with it.

I have the monitor working. I was looking to see if any software exists to use with IL2 1946 to extract the cockpit/gauges.

Yes, UDP Speed is the software you are looking for.
http://www.mission4today.com/index.p...p=show&kid=377 It uses DeviceLink to read information from the game via UDP protocol. If you want to use it online (given that the server allows mods) you will also need the mod DeviceLink online made by Fireball (for 4.11.1m, works with or without HSFX6). http://airgroup51.net/forum/index.php?topic=1007.0 |
It looks like UDP Speed will display gauges and other items. It doesn't seem to accept presses to change things. I also looked at Touchbuddy and it seems to let you press buttons to make changes but doesn't show gauges. Has anyone used these together?

Last I recall (years ago) there were sites with major devicelink sections. Salute Daedalus! What news for me! I hope the mod doesn't allow the cheats that got it turned off for online. |
I didn't say Devicelink didn't take input but rather UPDSpeed didn't. I am still reseaching what else it out there. Just gathering information.
Thanks |
Devicelink has also been used to pilot IL-2 planes by AI.

I made some programs for IL2 1946 that use DeviceLink myself, maybe you find them useful. AIRSTRIKEpro (for Saitek X52pro users) C-1 autopilot OverDhill, what exactly are you looking for? UDPspeed lets you display the gauges on a second monitor, but what do you mean with button input? DeviceLink also allows for input, but that is more of interest for people building home-cockpits using controllers (leo bodnars controller for example) and DeviceLink to operate the switches, knobs or whatever they use in the cockpit. |
Addtional Question,
Is it possible to have the inside map in second monitor? Lookaloft |
Recently I was retired so having more time I decided to get back into flying some. I also like to keep myself busy with projects so I decided to build a dedicated flight cockpit that can be used for a couple sims.
Daedalus are you familar with Helios? It is an app that is used with Falcon, DCS: A-10C Warthog and others that let you create a touchscreen interface of a virtual cockpit. You get gauges, toggle switches, buttons and switches that are updated by the sim as well as send the control commands to the sim all in one GUI skin you create. Really nice application. Here is my Falcon BMS skin I made http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8338/8...51c9cae3_b.jpg This is displayed on an ELO 24" touchscreen monitor. I would like to do something like it for IL2 1946 and have gauges and control buttons on the touchscreen. |
Cool, I didn't know about the Helios software!
But it looks like until now IL2 1946 is not supported. If I got it right the developer of the software made the code available to write plugins, for example an interface for a new flightsim like IL2. Maybe you have some knowledge on programming and can write your own plugin for IL2, or maybe someone else already did that? |
Well I guess I will try and play with UDPSpeed and see how that works first

http://i240.photobucket.com/albums/f...t/100_1131.jpg Here im running UDPSpeed with touchbuddy running a semi transparent map over the top- also running a stopwatch touchbuddy pluggin, No the map is not dynamically linked to the game- it is purely a static picture displayed in a HTML page. I did this quite a while ago as a test , not having a touch screen was a bit of a limitation with touchbuddy and I prefer physical switches. IIRC my conclusions were it was possible to combine the 2 programs but there would be some work rewuired to make a touchbuddy profile that would work well with udpspeed. and would probably need to use 'clear' buttons for any controls operated by touchbuddy |

I see you have an instrument view on a second monitor. Is it possible to send an instrument view to an ipad? If so can you direct me to instructions on how to set this up? |
I don't have ipad, this was done on 2nd pc/screen using udpspeed.
There was someone working on an ipad version http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/showthr...icelink&page=6 don't think it ever got finished tho. |
Well I installed Il2-1946 and updates on my Window 7 machine. My ELO touchscreen in on a WinXP machine. When I click the server button I get a
Can't call method "autoflush" on an undefined value at Touchbuddy.exe line 1256 Is anyone running TB on Windows 7 64 bit. I have tried compatibility mode and run as admin. So for now it is dead in the water and the website is locked down for registering a new user. One question for those that have used TB. Will TB update its buttons on the screen for any changes that occur in the game. For instance if you raise the gear from the keyboard or a joystick button will the toggle switch change on the TB screen? As for UDP Speed it is working fine on my client PC. It is a resource hog compared to MFDE or Helios but it runs. |
Well I found the debug settings in Touchbuddy and tracked it down. The default port of 12000 was being used so I bumped it to 12001 and it is working now.
