Its time to give us the SDKs
That's right. Give us the SDKs now. This project has been abandoned. That, or we need the modding community to open up the game and start adding in new stuff. I don't like the rof business model. I'd rather purchase the game and have a lot of content than get nickel and dimed for hundreds or dollars.

LOL... I would suggest you not worry your pretty little head about this.
If you just bought COD with all the associated problems would you release anything? |

what you mean nearmiss? I honestly think it's the least that can be done for those of us that have stuck in it for so long. No offense, but I kind of feel like we have had mud thrown in our face with this.
Don't get me wrong, the fact that the sim series is continuing is awesome. Do I like ROF business model? no. Will I likely still buy into the new IL2 series? likely, as long as it doesn't get insanely pricey, and the game is up to the quality and fidelity that we want and know. However, we were given promise and promise of certain features, such as SDKs, and never given any of it, not even the MAP SDK. SDKs may even be a bit much to ask for at this point, even rudamentary tools, but at least the modding community might be able to do something. |

Or to sell it, in the way Blender was sold and bought by its users (and now Blender is now one of the best 3d soft available and..... free of charge). |

...or I hope for someone that can open the way to modder. I criticized Clod for 2 year and even if now I play (and enjoy) it, but we all know the "history" of this game, the death of BoM (BoS seems to have other engine, maps, dev team... so BoM is another fail) and 2014 as release date. So, I do not think that we can play a decent new game till 2017-2018 (ok, I continue to trust to 1C, 2020 will be more accurate )... and in the meanwhile? Let's hope in modding or something similar to Daidalos. |

Shocker. It's like COD is a battleship going down and it fires one last salvo at it's customers before it's completely under water. Just one more slap in the face. Even with 777 taking over....I feel I just don't want to buy anything if 1C gets a cut of it.
|
Sorry guys But I don't think anyone will work out those SDK's or tools. The crew that was building the game is out.
The only hope we have is, to happen like it did happen with the old IL-2, some nice hacker with skill break out the code of IL-2, after that point, everyone can start to work that game out. Without tools or source code of the game, it's impossible to touch it. (1C don't take me wrong, I'm not advertising neither suggesting that I will hack 1C products) |
When IL2 series and CLOD is dead maby mod community could make something with it.
Actually with so many unfnished things and bugs CLOD is not acceptable for me to play. If mod community would improve it like it did with old Il2 1946 there would be a chance to play fairly in CLOD until somethinig new better will come. |

Altough I don´t like to hear that, I like the way you are telling us things, go on like this B6, I appreciate it! Thanks. |

It really would be a nice "good bye" present if they released the source code to Daidalos or a similar community team with some disclaimers that they can not use it for commercial products without paying royalties or similar... |
New Falcon 4.0. Just crack this mess...
Nearmiss, BS... I'm loving the new "consumers relationship"... Really... |
If only to fix AI commands I would be happy:grin:
|
The developers just put the game engine in the trash bin. Unfortunately, that's probably where it belongs. IMHO Oleg and company spent 10 years and millions of dollars building an 8-track stereo. As I said this game was DOA.

thanks for the post. btw what are you working on these days? |
Of course they wont give us the SDK, just another Luthier lie, the last thing they want is someone fixing CLOD when there is a new flight sim to sell us on the horizon. Its business.

I doubt there will be much chance of the SDK being released.
Being intimately tied to the game engine, If 1C is thinking of recovering the costs of development by selling the game engine then all tools would be part of that deal. It's a pitty that the COD development team didn't get the support they deserved by the whole community. It would have been great having access to the SDK. |

Give the source code to the community ! .. :D
On the understanding that when we fix everything up, and add more planes, you can take it back .. and try to sell it again. Sounds like a good deal to me. . |

for this they can use the sturmovik name and get the modelers who created the recent BoM objects, and receive the objects they already modeled |

most CoD fans would be willing to pay 30$ for a module like that same with an addon module for CoD that gives us control over ground vehicles as seen here (made in feb 2012 !) Controllable Tanks Gameplay http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...v=sHc04iRFFwA#! i'd pay 30$ for that as an addon :) |

Its great the old "official" Il-2 eventually added so many planes but they not all were "free" - most came with expansions. On top of that a good number of those planes I would never even sit in the cockpit let alone fly them. Being able to buy only those things you want is a good thing... |

The problem then is they may be prevented from play on some servers where a/c they don't have are essential to the mission. I bought many aircraft for RoF and still found myself falling behind. They say the model will be different from but similar to RoF. I hope this means that they will package-release contemporary aircraft so that a particular era, like 1940, 1941 etc (or BoB, N Africa etc) along with their maps can take us forward in a sensible way. |

The last thing 1C-777 needs in this niche is competiton, there's just no space for it.
So, bring flowers to the burial of the CloD engine, say a few words and get over it. PS: I don't like the the current development either, i just have to reckon it as a fact(which most likely will drive me off, but hey...) |

There is no particular utility in criticizing 777 Studios for what they are doing. They provide a product which many people enjoy, myself included. Rather than engaging in a lot of blame assigning and finger pointing, the community would be better off to unite and request to be given as much access to CoD's programming as possible. As I suggested before, this is a win/win for both 1C and the community. If CoD improves, 1C will benefit from sales, and the community will enjoy the game. I would agree with the OP, let the community have access to the tools, whatever stage they were in, and let us see what we can do. Already people have been able to add features like in game refueling, simply by experimenting. |

In RoF there are certain aircraft that will cover just about any scenario - many times aircraft go on sale for 50% off - $2.99 for an aircraft is cheap. Its only expensive for those who "have to have every plane, weapon, and pilot mod" - even then it can still end up being cheaper then buying a full game and follow up expansion given the bulk rebates and sales. With with WW2 there are a lot more aircraft options but even then if they focus on releasing aircraft and maps based on specific battles then people can just buy those things they want. |

I wont pay for it. Guarantee it. It's already a huge step back.

But what if you are on a fixed income? What if you only have an Obama phone which is free and you can't afford $2.99? |
Have to say the ATAG guys are really putting up a class act in this thread.

i bet there will be free planes as in rof if you cant afford 2.99
in fact the spad one of the best bnzers is free in rof :) which arises the point that people who like piloting games are green dogs, which you know by the online numbers of a game you can play for free |

I think we need a few others things first. Namely
The Ju.52 and its float variant The lysander The He59 The Avro Rota And all the ac for the Korean campaign... and why not the work they did for BoM while we are at it (doesn't look like 777 cares about reusing assets.) Now who knows how close to complete these were. The 59 at least got to a complete enough stage that there was a skin for it included in the skin templates released by MG - which leads me to believe it was very close to complete. The others would be fun to play around with even if the fm/dm are completely porked. The Ju52, in particular, would be great to have even if just as a static object. Hopefully some one close to the dev team will get these out. Please make sure your hard work doesn't go to waste. EDIT: and for the defiant fans. The night fighter version was planned at some point. http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...t20MK-I_06.jpg |

Jason said that they are not using the RoF business model, but instead something new. I would guess 1c didn't want to dip its toes into that kind of pond (or insect ridden muddy puddle..) |
Its time to give us the SDKs... as promised

The SDK is not sufficient.
Sadly, il2 will definitely die when this community desist in claiming the deserved open sourcing of COD. If they want to make a ROF of WW2 called IL2 go forward but we want Oleg's dream made reality. RELEASE COD'S CODE NOW! LONG LIVE TO IL2! |
