Smoke and fire?
 

Im still not seeing any smoke, flames or exploding aircraft online when getting kills.

Now i know not all kills would be like WOP with hollywood affects but ive got around 20 kills this week in the 109 on ATAG, both hurris and spits and ive not seen any black smoking aircraft, aircraft on fire or explosions.

In fact ive not seen ANY aircraft producing dense black smoke or fire anywhere online, bombers, fighters, allied or axis.

Ive seen the white wispy stuff and the oil leak affect, nothing else though nor has anyone ive been flying with this week.

I know someone is going to say they have seen it online, but surely we should be seeing it much more often?

Anyone else notice this?

No, I saw black smoke and fire yesterday, but have noticed a lack of hit sounds on my aircraft....got shot down twice without even knowing I was taking hits.

I defiantly see plumes of black smoke off downed aircraft, I also see explosions as they hit the ground.

The plums of smoke don't have a massive rendering distance, very hard to gauge this distance from memory, but if i had to guess i'd say less than a couple of miles.

I see it often. Maybe 3/5 kills?

Vapour/ fuel trails are more frequent. Perhaps 9/10.

Seems the only place you get fire/smoke from is the engine.. can anyone confirm?
Other parts (fuel tank, coolant etc) seem to vent the white vapour.

Yes, you only see the smoke up close. And it doesn't linger. Shame really.

I found if i turn up the sound in CLOD, then turn in down in windows mixer i hear it more often.

Hmmm...anyone got a pic of this black smoke online? im talking about thick black smoke, ive seen the wispy oil smoke.

I do this too and it definitely helps with hearing a/c hits although I don't always hear flack hits.

I do see both allied and axis fighters trailing black smoke/catching fire as they go down but it isn't as often as it used to be. Last night on ATAG I did see a Spit 2a take damage and his wing caught fire rather spectacularly and thick black smoke poured out of his wing so fires aren't limited to the engine. In general though you tend to see white vapor from water radiator damage and thin black vapor from oil leaks more often than thick black smoke from fire.

I got banged by 5 spits the other night and was pouring black smoke on fire and had to bail.

Looked good but when the aircraft got to a certain distance the smoke stopped showing, hope they improve this in the sequel...

Have you checkef that you effects settings in options isnt set to low?

Effects must be on high, I think. (Also set textures to original its not realted but it is awesome!)


Yup, you cant let your team mates low they have a leak with out getting to about 200 metres on them.

I have seen lots of the fire effects.

On 109s tails wings and in the case of Krupi may his burned out hulk rest in peace. I got his 109 burning, I have gotten Docs 109 burning. So yea it works you 109 pilots might want to check to see what actual rounds are actually working to make the incendiary work?

Im talking about every kill ive seen online, not just mine, ive never seen a plane go down, any plane go down trailing black smoke online.

Im not saying it doesn't happen as others are saying they have seen it, just for me it seems a very very rare event.

ah ok , may be the effects are to low?

I bagged an He 111 last week and it's left engine was belching black smoke all the way to impact in the Channel.

Gratifying.

Also got a 109 that was attacking Manston, same thing, and it exploded nicely when it hit terra firma.

I know they can explode when hitting the ground.

Any got a screenie of a plane smoking online using this patch?

I don’t have a screen shot but I see it a lot as well, more so since the patch.

I set RAF fighters on fire all the time with the 109 but not that often when flying hurricane/spitfire against 109. If I get a really solid burst in from behind though it will often light up the rearward positioned fuel tank on the 109.

Strafing across the top of the aircraft with high deflection often results in pilot kills; getting a few shots landed at further ranges usually will only result in blown coolant system

109's on fire is pretty common. Hurricane wing tanks are pretty easy to flame too. A burning Spitfire is like seeing a unicorn or chupacabra.

I actually saw one the other day but it was set alight by a G.50! Interesting?

Pics or it didn't happen.

My spit was burning few times and one time for shure in the last patch.
Fire was coming from the engine (fuel tank??) and soon few shades of red and black screen.

Yes vranac iv had this too

hmm..I wonder if this is a 1st person effect only.

you should play mor on airquake on full real you get so litle kills that no wonder you see no smoke
