Please note that this version is incompatible with previous versions when playing online.

Please download the file and extract the archives to your steam game directory, which is usually
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover

This patch contains the entire contents of RC1 + hotfix, so its readme applies as well.

Readme for the latest version:

AIRCRAFT

- RAF engines no longer stop at idle;

- Made corrections to rough running on non warmed Merlin engines. Engines still require to be warmed up and won’t work properly when too cold.
Please note that engines still start with oil and water at colder temperatures. With Hurricanes, please keep throttle back until the temperature is at least 45 degrees C (takes about 50 seconds after start at external temperature of +20 C);

- Corrected Hurricane boost indications. Previously shown +5.5Lbs Boost with full throttle, now properly displays +6.25 from Ground level all the way up to Full Throttle height;

- Fixed issue that occasionally caused planes with landing gear raised to still show it in the down position;

- Corrected Hurricane weights. Please note that in-game weights are slightly different from those used in RAF documents, especially what the game calls empty weight. Our fuel is also slightly heavier. The weights in-game have been further finetuned to match desired performance.
Decreased empty weight on the Hurricane improved turn rate, climb rate, and speed characteristics at all altitudes;

- Corrected Hurricane 1 100-Oct Mixture lever operation. It no longer requires Mixture lever Forward to maintain smooth engine operation with Boost Cut out activated. Mixture Lever should now be properly held Back for Boost Cut Out operation;

- Corrected SPIT MK IA 100-Oct Mixture Lever operation;

- Corrected rough running on Merlin engines above 11,000 ft;

- Corrected Bf.109E-4 auto prop pitch operations. Max RPM target should now be the proper 2400 RPM;

- Corrected control surface angles on the Hurricanes according to historical documents;

- Added drag to canopies opened in-flight on all aircraft;

- Greatly increased the effects of punctured radiators on engine temperature to make the effect more noticeable;

- Corrected radiator drag on the Bf.109s;

- Corrected weights on Fiat G.50;

- Corrected boost operations on British engines;

- Fixed the inaudible hit sounds online bug;

- Made corrections to Su-26 flight model. The plane is now less helicopter-like on take-off;

- Corrected skid ball on the Su-26 to work in the proper direction;

- Corrected the RPM indicator operation on the Su-26;

- Fixed Su-26 landing gear position when on the ground;

- Fixed the issue that occasionally caused never-ending Stuka horns online;

- Corrected external exhaust lights that could erroneously be seen from the cockpit;

- Corrected issue with the display of vapor trails;

- Restored AOA-based tip streamers.

GRAPHICS & MISC

- Added racing pylon models for air races. We’d like to thank Rasim Mullahmetov for supplying the model!
NOTE: Hitting a pylon will not currently damage the aircraft. However it will create a special OnStationaryKilled event that servers or mission designers can use to track mission points;

- Corrected Z_Offset parameter in online missions. Mission objects will now properly offset based on mission designer’s input;

- Corrected radio beacon code online;

- Fixed rare crashes connected to improper Road or LinearObjectManager usage in custom missions.

Note about NVidia SLI:

The patch must go through official NVidia accreditation for SLI support to be officially enabled in drivers. The patch will only go through the process once it’s officially released on steam.

If you wish to bypass this process and manually enable SLI support, please go through the following steps:

1) Download a profiler utility, for example
http://nvworld.ru/utilities/sliprofiletool/

2) Export SLI profiles to a file

3) Manually edit the file by adding the following lines
Code:

Profile "Il2: Cliffs of Dover"
    ShowOn GeForce
    ProfileType Application
    Executable " il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover/Launcher.exe"
    Setting ID_0x00a06946 = 0x000240f5
    Setting ID_0x1033cec1 = 0x00000001
    Setting ID_0x1033cec2 = 0x00000002
    Setting ID_0x1033dcd2 = 0x00000004
    Setting ID_0x1033dcd3 = 0x00000004
    Setting ID_0x1095def8 = 0x00000004
EndProfile

4) Re-import the file

5) Fly!

IMPORTANT: Please note that
Executable " il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover/Launcher.exe"
must point to the actual location of the game’s executable. If you have installed the game to a different folder, please edit the line accordingly.

SlipBall 10-12-2012 02:45 PM

Luthier, my first impressions while trying it out are very high for this patch...have a great weekend!!:)

zapatista 10-12-2012 02:46 PM

Luthier and Black6,

as a matter of priority, can you please fix the UGLY and UNREALISTIC visual prop effect that was introduced a few patches ago, and for which there were numerous complaints in the last few months

there has previously been in this forum extensive feedback from real pilots and people with many hrs of 1e hand experience in flying small prop planes under various lighting and weather conditions, and the current heavy flickering and blurring effect in CoD is most unrealistic. the prop should be just about invisible under most lighting conditions under high rev's, and only occasionally be faintly visible under certain lighting conditions

my fear is that this BUG was not again mentioned in the latest 48 hr thread that asked for bug fix requests, yet it has been repeatedly posted as a bug and listed in other bug request threads here but the dev's have not responded yet to this. please address this as a matter of priority because it makes the game look very ugly and detracts from all the other improvements introduced recently

thanks for the recent patches

So when you are right please make a sample how we can navigate with the german repeater compass.

@Blacksix: Well, concerning SLI i can confirm that this way you can add a profile. But the shown values do set SLI to "force single" in the profile. Changing the settings manually to try out if AFR or AFR2 work better now achieve the same results as post RC2: Sli runs, gives load on both cards but stutters and makes the game pretty much unplayable. Well, we will see what nvidia makes of it once the patch is final...

Open canopy is to SEE better, just like RL. The sound radar was already patched and it was the same for the 109.

Unrar whit the first one, i think there was an option to unrar all, use winrar. in another directory, later move them to the directory and overwrite

I tested the Spitfires and the throttle idle positions are corrected plus it is possible go to more than 2500 feet with all type of Spitfires with my system.
Now I am going to try to start them.
By the way sli or no sli there no difference any more with the new rc2 patch and the 306.97 nvidia drivers.

Did you follow their instructions on how to activate the SLI as per their first post?

torric270 10-12-2012 06:17 PM

Thanks!

With the first RC and still remains, Ju-88 bombsight no longer moves left/right to adjust for slip.

The bombsight also is not as stable as a 111 and requires speed up and down changes from 240 to 420 entered into bombsight to remain on target when before it would only vary from 320-370, this makes it very difficult to level bomb.

Also with previous loft fix (thankyou!) Ju88 50kgs drop true but 250s and 500s drop long. He-111 is opposite, 250s drop true and 50s do not.

Thanks

I triedthe Spitfire and they start now without any difficulty.

Good that 1C still work on the beta patch.

I found that now British fighters have more adequate power/speed incrase with +12 lbs. Now there is difference between +6 1/4 and +12 lbs is ab. 30 mph which is good.

Still there are some FM's and performance errors in last RC beta:

- British fighters are too slow ab. 20-30 mph at sea level

- 109 is too slow ab. 25-30 kph

- Spitfire MK II now is slowier then Spitfire MK1 100 Octan at sea level

- Spitfire MK 1 100 Octan has engine bug - from ab. 8700 ft RPMs start shaking with no reason - other version seemed to be ok

- still all planes have too much loose engine power from ab. 15 000 ft and have much too low maximum service celling

BTW FM of Su26 is very good and now even better. It is possible to make all aerobatics manouvers like : flick roll, half flick roll, stall turn, spin, inverted spin -so general FM engine is good. But i wonder why such things are not possible to make with fighter planes in CLOD which should also do such manouvers like half flick roll or stall turn - i suppose something is not correct with rudder effectinves for these planes.

Kwaitek, I think it's not as bad as that. I managed 280mph, possibly about 283mph at sea level with the radiator to 'normal' and 40% fuel with 3000rpm. I ran for over 5 mins like this, temps held @ 102C water and 92C oil

I could also get the Hurricane to 27kft where max boost was -3lbs but I didn't get any speed tests because of server stoppage. Climb rate was definitely greatly improved.

Very happy with this patch, I think the Hurricane can fight like this.

Gromic got the Spitfire to 305mph sea level @ 35% rad and 2600rpm.

I've had the engine shake and so has Gromic in Spit and Hurricane, around 10k ft, but the second attempt in the Hurricane had no trouble at all. Gromic said the Spit would only stop shaking when 2lbs or less was applied. It's not a mix lever thing, we tried that.

Gromic 10-12-2012 07:30 PM

Altitude issue with spits also (1a + 100oct).

At around Angels 11, I get sporadic engine ticking and 50rpm fluctuations (magneto drop?) which quiets down if rpm is reduced to 2600. Going higher to within 15k I have to drop boost to 2lbs. max or the engine feels like it's about to shake out of the aircraft. ASI shows 140 IAS at that altitude and continually drops to around 110 at 22k.

I'm enjoying the low altitude speed increase of the 100oct spit. Pushed one to 305 miles on the deck with 12lbs full boost / 2600 rpm and rads at 35%. Just watch your temps. They climb much faster (as it should).

Not really but I would, this patch contains the previous RC and hotfix so in theory you could just let the files overwrite the old ones. But I always reinstall CoD to last official patch then install over that.

Someone tested if the Bf-109 stalls at the correct speed?
Do we have the same "bug" in the Bf-109 slats?
http://www.il2bugtracker.com/issues/310
That is a very, very, very, undesirable and hateful Bug :-(

I reached 300 mph at deck with SPitfire MK 1a 100 Octan at +12 lbs 2850 RPMs, radiator 1/4 open so it is not bad but still other planes are too slow example Spitfire MK II is slowier 290 mph at +12 lbs 2850 RPMs and 260 mph at +9lbs ( should be 290 mph at +9 lbs), Hurricane MK1 at 6 1/4 boost reached only 240 mph/390 kph - should be 260 mph/418 kph.

I found that still Merlin engines had RMPs kick at different alts depend of planes and there is need to lower throttle from full postion and drop mainfoild pressure to got smoth engine runinig which is strange to me - it cause lose power. Engine with single stage supercharger should lose manfoild pressure byself with altitude.

Also Merlin III from BOB era should have allowed climb settings ( 1/2 hour limit) at 2850 RPMs below 20 000 ft and 3000 RPMS above 20 000 ft.

Still there is too much engine power lose above 15 000 ft and above 20 000ft climb rate is lees then 1000 ft/min - nearly minimal climb rate at minimum (near stall ) speed so RL service celling is not possible to reach with steady climb.

Thanks for the patch, much appreciated.

il_corleone 10-12-2012 08:25 PM

Wow the hurri its a sweet to fly!, tested it 1 hour before, 2 109 takin a bath on the sea :-P , also it happened some strange thing, i was doinga "scisor" against a 109 when my tail blew up his engine cover , i was like OMG! he is going to have extra refrigeration!

When online, white smoke effects have turned green. Dust, gunsmoke etc. Offline no problem.

Salute Luthier

Thankyou for correcting the Hurricane weights. :D

Hopefully this moves this aircraft closer to achieving its correct performance.

.
The altitude performances of the Spitfire are better also.
With the new patch RC2 and a Spitfire MKIa 100oct I have tried and did get to 28100 feet of altitude without any difficulties, without exploding my engine by fiddling with the rudder trim and the pitch mixture radiator opening, here is a picture to attest it (add 1000 mb );
http://s13.postimage.org/4zdxiq547/s...012_223612.png
http://postimage.org/image/vx7ukgpr7/
It took me 43 minutes from take of at Upavon to landing at Manston.
In some future days I shall do the same with other type of Spitfires.
One last remark the folder names of the skins of some planes have change is it not? Could someone give the new correct one?!

TX-EcoDragon 10-12-2012 09:19 PM

Launcher crashes 100% of the time, shortly before the mission loads. I have repeatedly attempted the update, cleared the cache, verified cache files in steam (in many different orders) reinstalled Direct X, reinstalled .NET 4.0 (from the redist folder), removed my newer V C++ and tried the one in the redist folder, cleared the cache, manually placed files in each location, updated nVIdia drivers, etc. I'm on Win XP 32bit, and have no issues running the official version.

I went online on the Atag server.My plane spawned in the tall grass.I was able to see the grass by looking down at the rudder pedals.

There was still the pop up clouds.

When I landed I was not able to cut off the engine.The clickable magnetos and fuel valve did not seem to work.They worked for starting.

Well as long as there are non functional backvieuw mirrors on the Britisch planes it is an acceptble cheat to me.
In a 109 I can as I should look behined me in ahurri or spit not so much.
with the open canopy in most backward sitting position one can look along side the tial to the back.
So Give me a mirror and I wont do it any more.

Hi Eco,

Hate to tell you, but I bet your problem lies with WinXP. Do you have any plans to upgrade to W7 in the future? IMO, it's the best windows OS by far and worth the upgrade without even considering it would probably fix your IL2COD.

OT but needed an answer: everybody consciously driving a car know that you see nearly nothing in a rear view mirror. Driving, You are only lucky tht everything happens directly in your flat six.

Has nothing to do with the fact that dead six is a blind spot without the mirror.

So you admit to being a cheater, but you justify it in your mind because the mirrors don't work.

Okay.

Have you ever flown a 109? Well, then you know whats a bad visibility. Its everyones choice thou. I knew it was possible to dump the canopy in a 109 and have no increased drag post patch and i still didnt use it since i dont like exploiting. And sorry but thats exactly what it is. No matter wich side it does.

I know i wasnt asked in this question but nonetheless: I tried everything. As i staded in another post in this thread their profilevalues set SLI to "force single". So in fact deactivates it. When changing manually to AFR or AFR2 achieves the same results as post RC2 (unplayable stutters and no better performing FPS-wise than post patch).

I think you have bigger things to worry about what with the more realistic RAF performance now, and the correction of DM's. :)

This is very good news!

Winger 10-12-2012 10:00 PM

whoops.Double. Sorry!

David198502 10-12-2012 10:13 PM

ok, this patch seems to be pretty interesting so far, as the RAF now seems to be competitive....

so thats a big + from me!

but im kind of disappointed, that B-Beobachtung ammunition is still bugged, and that it has no explosive effects at all anymore, and the little ignition effect which is left, doesnt give any recognized damage by the game...fix that please, and make spits again burnable!

contacts still disappear in midrange distances, but are visible through terrain and clouds, just like it was with the last patch...fix that, and we all have a major improvement in gameplay!

6BL Bird-Dog 10-12-2012 10:33 PM

Thanks for the patch,installing it now.

14./JG5_Roman 10-12-2012 10:39 PM

NVidia bypass process does not give any performance boost while using SLI.

100 Octane 1a Spitfire

Just wanted to add:

It looks like they changed the name of the 1a 100 octane spit in game for this patch. Old name was Aircraft.SpitfireMkIa_oct and now has been changed to Aircraft.SpitfireMkIa_100oct.

So anyone with old missions needs to go in to the .mis file and change their 1a 100 octane spitfire text with the new name or they will not show up in your mission.

Just FYI...

Attila 10-12-2012 10:49 PM

Sorry, for me is this patch a big step backwards!!!:mad:
FM from the 109 is a disaster imo! The trim sucks completly!
The Spit is now the Überplane again! It climbs almost that good as the BF, turns better and dives faster or even with the 109! Almost no chance to escape in a fight!

JG1_Wanderfalke 10-12-2012 10:54 PM

I think its a big step forward...
but I must admit Trim is very extrem at the moment.

"Almost as good"?!..."even?" ZOMG! Blasphemous! How dare they!...How unacceptable!!!

What are they thinking giving the RAF a competitive edge?!
